"GOTTA KEEP HUSTLIN' 'TILL YOU DIE"

Profile Pub Presents 'Razzmatazz Street Party' Wraps Up for 2012

Razz04
We cried; we laughed; we bonded. The inaugral Razzmatazz Street Party was an experience that taught us many things.

1) You can't hide a 60KG keg from the sun's rath no matter how hard you try

2) You can not please most people all of the time

AND

3) Those who stick with you 'till the end are the ones you should cherish the most

A big shoutout to all the pre and post press-check it all out on the blog. A big thanks to the sponsors, to the bands and a big smooch to the patons. Would have been mighty boring without you guys!

Interview: Electric Sea Spider

Ess01

Bedroom producer is a titular that's been wrung out time and time again, so much so that its actual meaning has become lost in a sea of ambiguity. Once said, the letters tumble from their speaker's lips dizzy and disorientated; their direction is anyone's guess.

Electric Sea Spider is en route. With the speed of a spider and the focus of a fawn, Melbourne's, 21-year-old, Jim Sellars reigns a command over the MPD like no other. With a gravitational pull, his nimble fingers race from dial to dial adjusting their positioning - all the while foreseeing their collective future.

Electric Sea Spider graced April's debut Razzmatazz Street Party - those were his sounds, here are his words, scrawlings et al.

Check his FB for upcoming gigs. Check his soundcloud in anticipation of his debut EP.

Interview: Massive Wieners

Mw05
Dave & Liam are just two guys from Melbourne. One look at their CV makes you wonder how just two guys get their fingers in so many pies. As a pair they are The KO-OP, an entity that represents that go-getter spirit so engrained in Australian culture. Well it's either that or our incessant obsession with the underdog.

Known for the parties they throw, Liam and Dave also have a hand in the South Yarra Markets, as well as the more recent, and much well-known Massive Wieners. With an establishment that's all about the D.O.G, the bow-tied lads have turned the regular hot-dog on its head. Cookin' up a simple yet effective serving for the taste-buds. Their Greville Street store stands tall yet unassuming, because it's not the bells and the whistles that concern Dave & Liam - at Massive Wieners it's all about the flavour of the dog.

In between slinging hot dogs the boys picked up a pencil and wrote us a few.

On Sunday Massive Wieners represent, with a tasty trio of bun n' wiener offerings for all of the RAZZMATAZZ attendees!

Interview: Them Swoops

Ts04

Them Swoops is not a verb or a youthful colloquialism. Them Swoops is a noun that describes a Melbourne duo, looking to expand, who readily shy away from the psychedelic, lofi reverberations of 'yesteryear' and more recently those of 'today', to create melodic pop tunes that quite simply make you feel good on the inside. Listening to Them Swoops is like drinking a tall glass of water after a big night out. You'd swallow the glass whole if you could - if only to reach that level of satisfaction at a faster rate.

As much as we cringe at the thought of comparisons, they are but the most effective way to portray a sensory reaction; a feeling, taste or sound, to another. Them Swoops will have you reminiscing to the sounds of French anglo-speaking quartet Phoneix but you won't wanna go back - you'll stay in the present, feet firmly on the ground, waiting to take their next step.

Profile Pub talks to Dave from Them Swoops. He mixes it up a little with his handy dandy macbook. Read their words, see their photos and then hear their sounds at Profile Pub Presents Razzmatazz.

RAZZMATAZZ is on 15 April - TIX VIA MOSHTIX.

Interview: Scotdrakula

Scotdracula06

Confused, bruised, dirty and heart-broken. The four essential ingredients. Throw 'em in the pot and stir vigorously until you've reached the perfect consistency. If the end result doesn't come out tasting like raucous reverb, ear-bending screeches and beaten-down drum-pads revist steps one, two and three.

Scotdrakula are the three-piece Melbourne band that combine hollow howls with jangly guitars and feet stomping drumkicks. Like the anti-christ of Sirens vocalist Newmann will lure you in, confront you, confuse and disorientate you.

Left shaken and feeble Scotdrakula will make you sweat the tears of a fever.

Profile Pub speak to Matt, Evianne & Dove before they take over the street at next week's Razzmatazz Street Party.

Razzmatazz Street Party tickets $28.

Interview: Drunk Mums

Dm04

Drunk Mums are a band of lads bewitched by the sound of their own harmony. With loud, raucous riffs, hollow howls and deafening drum beats their live sound and stage aesthetic is a pretty apt portrayal of the lives they lead and the characters they immortalise.

As one of the six musical talents playing at Profile Pub's Razzmatazz we felt it only right to meet them on a more personal level - and so they invited us to Yarraville. Those guys have pools out that way!

Below is what ensued. What we learnt and what we wish we didn't will stay with us for the rest of our sorry little lives. Thanks to the boys for their hospitality.

Interview: Vice Royalty

Zv07

Zac Abroms mapped out a career that would sing to a multitude of tunes..melodies, beats et al. As a music enthusiast, he's spent a solid five years working within the artist management and promotions realm. Kickstarting this journey in 2007 with weekly music night 'Clean Young Mess', Abroms introduced Melbourne to a bevy of breakthrough acts such as Oh Mercy and Kimbra. Then at the end of 2010 he bid farewell to a three-year stint at Forum 5 - industry insight tucked firmly under his arm. It was at this point that a divergence would ensue with the inception of his own 'Vice Royalty' - a mix of artist management, digital pr, consultancy, booking and touring now holds one Mr Zac Abroms in good stead.

Vice Royalty founder Zac Abroms took the time to jot down some notes for Profile Pub.
